The red dot trail starts in Valea Cormaia valley, 9 km away from Sangeorz-Bai. The bifurcation is marked by a signpost which indicates the name of the place where you are, called ‘La Birtut’ (The pub). Turn right on Valea Vinului valley and in 150 m walk past Cabana Farmecul Padurii hut and a guesthouse. Follow the forest road for 3-4 minutes, without any trail markers, and turn left near a creek. After another 2-3 minutes, take the clear path on the right and start a steep climb through the forest. Along the switchbacks, you find the first red dot trail markers. The trail takes you out of the forest to Nedeia Barladelor, a large meadow with summer huts. The trail is barely visible and the trail markers are very rare (mostly on metal plates, only the white part still being visible) and often find them placed quite low on trees and in hardly visible spots. Walk past a spring a bit higher and come across some roads leading to the sheepfold in the area. Keep climbing on Muntele Cucului ridge (north-east). From Muntele Cucului, get below the wooded peak of Nedeia Taranului (1857 m). You can walk around it, to the west, to the saddle located to its north. You can see Varful Rabla peak (1902 m) from the saddle. Trail markers are very rare. Descend to a saddle with a small lake on the eastern part. Next, you can either follow the ridge over Varful Laptelui peak (1931 m) and the smaller peaks of Muntele Miresa, or go around these peaks. ATTENTION! There are no trail markers. Varful Jneapanul peak remains to the east and you descend obliquely to the right (east), and get to a path that leads you into the forest. The path through the forest is quite large, being used by those who own the sheepfold just below the saddle between varful Jneapanul peak and Nedeia Straja. Get out of the forest and continue on shepherds’ paths. There are still no trail markers. A gradual climb takes you to the edge of the dwarf pines, below Varful Nedeia Straja peak. On the contour line, walk around Varful Repede peak, to the east (walk past a spring). After 15 minutes, still on the contour line, you can see the first signs (fairly new) of the red dot trail markers. The new markings lead you to the intersection with CG trail (Trail 21), which comes from Valea Aniesul Mic valley. They both take you on the contour line above Taul La Carti lake to Saua Intre Izvoare saddle, where you come across the red stripe trail (Trail 1).
