On the way from Bicaz to the Red Lake on DN 12C national road, in the centre of Bicazu Ardelean village turn right onto 127A county road that leads to the village of Telec. After 5 km, reach the intersection of the county road with 138 village road. Follow this road to the right and cross the village of Telec along Paraul Bistra brook. From the last houses, the road gets into the forest and after about 1.5 km you reach the confluence of Bistra Mare brook with Bistra Mica creek. Here, at the intersection of two forest roads, there is an information point provided by the national park administration. There is also a trout farm. Continue on the road that separates the headquarters of Ceahlau National Park Administration (located on the right) and the trout farm and walk upstream Bistra Mare Valley. Follow the road that gently goes up and 3 km further reach a large meadow located where the two creeks of Cintelec (Lake) (on the right) and Mangalaria (on the left) flow into Bistra Mare stream. There are several holiday homes and a household in the meadow. Further, the road begins to climb steeper, offering some nice views of Ocolasul Mare Peak (1,907 m) and the steep slope below, called Gardul Ocolasului. After you have walked for more than 4 km from the meadow, reach Curmatura “La Scaune” saddle. Before you reach the saddle, for several hundred meters to the right, there is a view of Gardului Stanilelor and Gardul Ocolasului below Ocolasul Mare Peak. You can aslo see the staggeringly deep Bistra Mare Gorge.
