Directions

From Cabana Curmatura hut (1470 m) (intersection with Trails 10, 11, 17, 19, 20, 21) go west on the road together with Trail 17 and 19. Trail 10 leaves to the right and then to the left and after 600 meters Trail 17 leaves to the right. Walk down (together with Trail 19) on the road for articulated forest tractors (TAF). Valea Stanei valley remains to the left. Walk down to Ciocracu valley and cross a wooden bridge (1270 m). The TAF road continues along Ciocracu valley (675 meters), turns right and after 140 meters it reaches the forest road in Valea Cheii valley (see the description of the unmarked trail from Trail 19). From the wooden bridge, go up west on Piscul Ciocracului to 1318 m and then, walk down for 230 meters (30% slope to Brusturet valley). Cross Brusturet stream and reach the nursery in Valea Cheii valley. Walk upstream along the nursery fence for 110 meters and when you see a table on the right, leave Trail 19 which continues to the left to Muchia Vladusca ridge. After 30 meters, find a spring to the left and continue to climb along Valea Martoiului valley. After 300 meters, the TAF road ends. Keep on climbing along the rocky valley. Markings are very rare on Martoiului valley! After about 800 meters, enter the forest and climb on the poorly marked trail to Poiana Martoiu meadow (1400 m). Cross three secondary streams of Sistoaca Vlaicului and get out in the southern part of Poiana Vladusca meadow, below Stana Vladusca sheepfold. Descend through the nettles and reach the junction with Trail 12. From here, on both trails, walk through a short wooded area and get to La Table/Saua Vladusca saddle (intersection with Trails 5, 18, 24, 27, 29). Trails 12 and 24 continue to the left. Walk ahead, together with Trail 5, 27, 29. Walk past the spring near La Table junction, trail 24 leaves to the right, and after 600 meters through the deforested area reach the upper end of Poiana Grind meadow (above the sheepfold bearing the same name). Walk down on the ridge between Valea Cheii valley and Valea Seaca a Pietrelor valley until you reach the stream of Valea Seaca de sub Grind. Trails 5 and 29 leave to the right. Continue down the valley (together with Trails 27 and 32). After 300 meters of descent to the east, reach Valea Seaca a Pietrelor valley among deforested hills representing Piatra Craiului National Park buffer zone. Turn 90 degrees to the right and descend 900 meters on the TAF road on Valea Seaca a Pietrelor valley. Trail 32 continues ahead. Cross the stone bridge to the left and walk up the TAF road to Curmatura Groapelor saddle (1.6 km, 30-45 minutes). Just 100 meters before Curmatura Groapelor saddle (located between Coltul Cojei, 1502 m and Coltul Sparturilor, 1469 m), Trail 27 leaves to the right. From the saddle, walk south on the switchback wagon road that descends (1.7 km) to the first houses of the village of Sirnea. Continue to the right along the upper stream of Valea Rogoaza valley for 1.6 km (walk past Valea cu Struti guesthouse) until you reach the center of Sirnea (House of Culture, panel with cyclotourist trails). Descend 2.2 km along Valea Rogoaza valley on the village road and then climb for 1 km on DN73 to La Gheorghita guesthouse.
