Moieciu de Sus - Poiana Guţanu - Şaua Batrâna - Hotel Peştera

Description

Many people know that Bran-Moieciu area is a very inspiring choice when it comes to a holiday in the mountains or hiking. However, Moeciu de Sus, located a little further away from the tourist attractions of the area is more quiet and picturesque. The clean air and the absolutely delightful landscapes of the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului make it a destination in itself, as well as an excellent starting point to the high ridges of the Bucegi Mountains.

Such a scenic route is trail 28 (red triangle), which starts from the center of Moieciu de Sus, follows the paved road on Bangaleasa Valley, leaving the view of Piatra Craiului behind, then the dirt road, then the path on a bridge to the left, continuing with a 45-minute climb on Plesa Ridge. Representatives of Bucegi Natural Park say that there are a number of protected flora species in this area (rhododendron, edelweiss, white carnation or dwarf pines), so you will be rewarded if climbing in springtime.

The trail zig-zags in Gutanu Meadow, which has a spring at the edge. After a few minutes through the forest, between dwarf pines, it takes you after 20-25 minutes to the wide meadow below Mount Batrana. From here there is a "rocky" and steep climb up to Batrana Saddle (2,150 m) and step by step, photo after photo, you reach Batrana mountain hut and continue further down below Batrana Peak to Doamnele Valley and Doamnele Waterfall. Descend to the plateau below Doamnele sheepfold (connection with trail 44) and then get to the road that provides access to Doamnele sheepfold (trail 54). Walk for 20-25 minutes and reach the foot of Babele secondary ridge and Pestera Hotel.
