Stages

Piatra Turcului/Sub cetate - Şaua Vânturiş - Valea Izvorul Dorului - telescaun Valea Soarelui

Description

Even though it is less known, this route follows an old path of the outlaws, below Barbes Fangs, a protected area of national interest with limestone, sandstone, crystalline schist and conglomerates, and it runs from the Summer Path (elevation 1,800 m) to the base of Varful cu Dor dale below Valea Soarelui chairlift station (connection with trails 1 and 36).

The landscape is dominated by the steep slope of Barbes Fangs. The trail crosses several meadows at the base of the rocky walls and offers panoramas of Vanturis Valley and Paduchiosul Peak (1,925 m). At the intersection of Bucegi Plateau with Vanturis  pothole - the steep slope between Barbes Fangs and Vanturis, Vanturis Waterfalls were formed as a result of the height from where the water of Izvorului Dorului flows. Vanturis Waterfall is actually formed by three waterfalls: the Upper Waterfall, the Great Waterfall and the Lower Waterfall. To fully enjoy the spectacle of these waterfalls, it is advisable to visit them in May-June, when the flow is higher.

The trail starts from the "Summer Road" ski slope, marked with red stripe, from 1,800 m (below Piatra Turcului rock), follows the contour line through the forest and gets to the base of Barbes Fangs, where, with some luck, you can find the entrance to the waterfalls. From here continue on the grassy slopes, above Vanturis lakes (connection with trail 35) and further on Izvorul Dorului Valley to the point below Valea Soarelui chairlift station.
