From Timisul de Sus train station, walk for about 800 meters south on DN1 national road until you reach the starting point of the trail. Cross a stone bridge on the left side of the road and after about 40 meters veer right along the forest road on Piatra Mica valley. Follow the coils of the forest road for 3.9 km and come across an information board for Tamina waterfall on the right. In order to visit the waterfall and the canyon, descend to the right, past the information board, and then turn to the left (to descend through the canyon) or to the right (to climb through the canyon). Another way to visit the canyon is to walk for about 300 meters down the road and then descend to the right along Tamina stream. The trail markers accompany the curves of the dirt road for another 1.1 km to Piatra Mica forest lodge. The forest road continues to the left along Piatra Mica valley and the marked path leaves the road to the right side of the fence surrounding the forest lodge (1,210 m). Next, there is a constant 1.4 kilometer-long climb (24% slope) on Galbeaza secondary ridge until you get out of the forest. This is the upper part of Galbeaza ridge. Walk up through the long meadow to the saddle in front of you and then follow the edge of the forest until you reach the sheepfold below Piatra Scrisa (intersection with Trail 8).
