The trail is difficult and there is significant elevation gain/loss. It reaches Baiului Mountain ridge from the south, starting in the village of Tesila. From here, follow the asphalt road that goes around the village of Secaria and leave it soon to join the forest road atop the Baiului Mountains. From this part, the ascent is quite steep in some places and there is sometimes need for light push-bike parts. But your effort is rewarded as one of the most impressive sceneries in Romania opens to the left – that of the eastern slope of the Bucegi. Go past saddles and peaks, and when you get close to Cazacu Saddle leave the main ridge and follow the narrow road along Petru-Orjogoaia ridge, a large and gentle ridge that connects Baiului to Neamtului Mountains. Go past Orjogoaia Lake and the red cross tourist trail takes you down to Traisteni, past Plaiul Orjogoaiei. From Traisteni, go back to Tesila on the gravel road and then on the asphalt along Doftana Valley.
