The trail starts from Cabana Curmatura hut (1470 m) (intersection with Trails 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20) to Saua Crapaturii saddle. Walk up (northeast) on the trail with wooden steps and then below a cave wall on the right wall walk up (northwest) to Saua Crapaturii saddle (common route with Trails 11 and 20). Next to the saddle, there is a balcony with a panoramic view over Zarnesti, Valea Crapaturii valley and Muntii Persani mountains. Trail 11 remains ahead (north) and Trail 20 to the left (northwest). Turn right (east) and walk on the slightly upward contour line through the coniferous forest. After 100 meters, reach a meadow with scree and an information panel. Walk up on the scree and reach the foot of the western wall of Piatra Mica ridge. Carefully climb the cable-equipped steep wall, walk past a few crosses and memorial plaques and some slightly exposed ledges. The alpine route is short and demanding. When getting to the second cable, walk above an exposed hollow that descends to the south (attention during wintertime, there can be snow cornices!). After the second cable, get to the alpine ridge (about 1860 m) and continue on the contour line, among dwarf pines, to the peak. After 500 meters, walk along a large meadow and then climb another 230 meters to the cross on Varful Piatra Mica peak (1816 m). There is a beautiful panoramic view of Zarnesti, Valea Barsa valley and Persani Mountains. From here, follow the clearly visible path south and then west, descending on tight switchbacks through the forest (below the peak), then becoming wider (at the bottom of the forest) (335 m altitude difference), to the upper part of Poiana Zanoaga meadow. Follow the markings south and after 100 meters altitude difference reach the intersection with Trail 11, 450 meters before Stana Zanoaga sheepfold.
