At the exit from Bistra towards Valea Viseului you turn left and see a narrow road and an information board of Maramuresului Mountains Natural Park. Follow the road and see the suspended bridge marked right at the end. This is the starting point for Tocarnea thematic trail. After you cross the bridge, there is another board. You follow a path parallel to the households below the hill and get to a narrow road, where you find the marking. Walk past several households, then get right below Tocarnea ridge and from there you no longer leave the ridge line. The trail climbs through the beech and oak forests on a beautiful path, sprinkled with rocky steps, with some sections where you have to climb aided by the cables and stairs provided to facilitate access. Throughout the route there are information panels about the fauna, the flora and the resting places. After the ridge becomes smoother, you get to the intersection of the ascending and descending paths (identical marking). From here you continue through a rocky area equipped with cables and in 10 minutes reach the end of the thematic trail, marked by a limestone cliff with a protection net. Enjoy the panorama over Viseu Valley. On the way back, use the same route up to the intersection with the road marked for descent. From here, you turn right and follow the yellow dot towards a small meadow with a small household. Walk past the household and get to a sheepfold that you walk around to get into Tocarnea Valley, from where the yellow dot marking descends. Follow this route and get down to the second row of households and to the intersection with the initial ascending route, which you follow in the opposite direction.
