The trail was marked to connect Horea to the 2014 plane crash memorial. It is also called "Iovan’s Road". The starting point is in the center of Horea, next to Horea’s statue. Walk up on the asphalt road towards Patrusesti, past the supermarket, the pharmacy and the town hall. Soon, get to a spring on the side of the road (right) and after more than 1 km get to another spring called Tigancusii (Gipsy) spring. Walk past the intersection with the road that goes up to the left to Butesti and Giurgiut, and continue on the asphalt road for one more kilometer. Get to a village shop, turn right and after the paved road ends continue on a gravel road. After another kilometer from the village shop, get next to a shed painted in red at the first serpentine of the road that will take you up to Patrusesti. Continue on the main road to the left and several switchbacks take you up through the village, past the school and a spring. The trail follows the tortuous road to a large crossroad. Follow the road to the north and reach Apa Cumpanita Saddle. Before the saddle, next to a collection center, trail 1 (red stripe) comes from Baisoara Resort below Toader Peak. From here, the two trails have a common route. There is a resting place in the saddle with a spring and a gazebo. From here, the two trails continue together on a dirt road along the right bank of a creek. A few cabins remain to the left and you enter the woods. After about 1 km uphill, reach Sesul Buzii cabins. There is a crossroad but you continue straight ahead on the clearest road with help from a wooden arrow that says "Iovan’s road". The road climbs diagonally through the pasture and shortly reaches Petreasa Saddle, where there are other cabins. Here, trail 1 splits and continues westward, together with trail 28, and you turn right. Trail 28 splits from the road that goes down to the front-left and descends to Podina Hut via Sestina meadow. You continue right from Petreasa Saddle, guided by markings painted on wooden cabins, wooden arrows and spruce trees. Walk past a resting place with a gazebo five minutes uphill from the saddle. There is a crossroad here, but you continue on the contour line on the lowest road. Reach another wooden arrow and turn left through the grassland, past a tree with a wooden arrow. A serpentine takes you to a flat area, near the top. Guided by short marked wooden signposts, enter the forest on a small road. Continue through the forest about 300 m and descend to the 2014 plane crash memorial.
