Description

Although less popular than the trail to Urlatoarea Waterfall that leaves from Busteni (Trail 5 – red dot), this is another easy and enjoyable way to reach the waterfall. Just a few minutes after you leave the built-up area, you are surrounded by nature, tranquility and fresh air. Walk for 30-40 minutes on the forest road, then 10-15 minutes through the forest on Urlatoarea Mica Valley. It is an easy route, accessible to anyone, which does not require special equipment or special physical training. It can be done all year round.

The waterfall is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. It is located on the eastern slope of the Bucegi, in Bucegi Natural Park, very close to Busteni. With a 15 m drop, it creates a spectacular landscape for those who come to visit it, especially after heavy rain, when the flow is much higher. It is the result of the confluence of Comorilor and Urlatoarea Mica valleys at an elevation of 1,100 m. The name of the waterfall comes from the loud noise made by the falling water. The water from the waterfall is safe to drink.

The Legend of Urlatoarea Waterfall says that there once was a beautiful maiden, shepherdess, with whom two brothers fell in love. The two young shepherds did not know one about the other's feelings. They began to follow her step by step, until a dark day when they tried to catch her. The frightened girl pulled out a scream of despair and threw herself from the rocks. The girl turned into a waterfall and the two brothers, horrified by what happened were stunned and locked in stone above her.

The tourists who arrive here can choose a longer route, as the waterfall is near the route connecting Busteni resort town to the Jepi Valley and Bucegi Plateau. (Trail 7 – blue triangle)
