From the old center of Baile Herculane walk about 7 km to 7 Izvoare swimming pool. Continue on the road leading to Prisaca dam and a few meters after crossing the bridge over Cerna the trail indicator shows the direction through the meadow with Herculane camping. Walk a little along the path that accompanies the right bank of the river and soon start climbing through the forest. The wilder areas, without vegetation, offer special views over the Mehedinti Mountains. Follow the trail markers and reach Piatra Banitei. Here, you can see the ruins of the observation tower of the Romanian border patrol before the union. From the tower to the right you can see Piatra Banitei Cave. Continue on the path through a young and dense forest and reach the ridge in Culmea Mare Meadow. On the edge of the forest you get to the intersection with the ridge trail of the Cerna Mountains.
