Up to Gaujoara Meadow, the trail shares its route with the blue dot trail. You start at the chair lift station, follow DJ106N county road, which you leave after 200 m and follow the path descending to the right, crossing the spruce forest. The trail is dotted with resting benches. The path gradually zigzags up to Gaujoara Meadow, which provides a beautiful view toward the Fagaras Mountains and the city of Sibiu. Here, the two trails split for you to follow the red cross trail, which climbs steeply along the slightly steeper, yet relatively shorter slope. You reach a sheepfold with a spring nearby. From here, the trail goes below Batrana Mare Peak, between strips of spruce trees and blueberry bushes. You reach Batrana Saddle, which is covered with vast grasslands and dwarf pine clumps. There is a swampy area to the right of the path, the source of Cotorasti brooks flowing to the north, and Besineu brook flowing to the south, spring from. This is also the intersection with the red stripe trail. From here, you can easily climb to Surdu Peak (1961 m) and Batrana Mare Peak (1911 m), which provide beautiful views.
