Among the access routes to Rarau from Campulung Moldovenesc, this one is known as the most picturesque. Follow Sirenei Street past the stadium and the hospital, then climb up Paraul Mesteacan Street. At first, the road climbs along the waterline, but after leaving the village, it moves away from the brook, climbing more and more on the left bank (right as you go up). After leaving the forest, the view opens in several directions, with picturesque landscapes with fenced hayfields, summer houses and wooden hay barns. Go uphill gently, then slowly descend between households into a saddle where the trail leaves the road and starts a steep climb through the forest. At the end of this climb, walk around a peak (on the left) and reach the intersection with trail 13 (red dot). Continue on the ridge and walk past a sheepfold, then an animal stall. To the left, towards the valley, you can see a rocky formation – Murgului Rock. A road climbs from the right (W) and joins you at the next sheepfold (Gura Plaiului). Climb through a patch of forest, then go down into a relatively low saddle. From here start the journey in Munceii Raraului, mostly up and through the forest, for more than 2 km. At the final exit from the forest, the road cut into the mountainside goes past two sheepfolds and a spring to get to a bend in the paved road (DJ175, Transrarau) where it meets trail 3 (red stripe). The marking continues on this road to Rarau Hotel for more than 2.5 km.
